About This Project

I was contacted to create a board game design for an international therapist.  This game was to be used by her clients, both children and adults, and was designed to help them overcome obstacles and develop into the best version of themselves they can be.

The board game was to be sold all over the world, and so needed to be trademarked in various countries, so it was important that each element of the board was drawn from scratch.

This made it a big job, as each character, tree and flower had to be created from scratch, with no stock imagery used.

Sloth and Beaver Designs

The project started with the design of the cuddly Sloth and Beaver characters, as these would form the basis for the entire game.

Each character was hand drawn, with every bit of fur and shading needing to be created by hand.  There also needed to be two versions of each.

Then I moved onto the logo  design.

Sloth and Beaver Board Design

A path of grey, stone-like squares winds across a green, forest landscape with scattered ponds and trees.

The board itself was a huge undertaking, with hundreds of small elements, from bushes, individually drawn stones, grass textures, trees, water and even the cosmos, all needing to be drawn individually before being arranged onto the board.

Board Element Design

Due to the game board needing to be hand drawn, it was important that each individual element was created from scratch too.  Here are just a few of the many elements I created as part of the overall design of the board.
